Student journalists go to the Rugby.

This academic year’s extra-curricular outside school journalism kicked off with five of my most delightful students attending the Dubai Rugby 7s on exclusive press passes. The 7s is one of my favourite events, and the 2013 tournament made it my fourth taking students as journalists. Not only did this allow them to go behind the scenes at the Middle East’s busiest sporting event of the year, but also interview stars of the rugby world, attend press conferences and get photo ops with their favourite players, making significant additions to the official social media channels of the tournament. Indeed, when Promosevens Sport, the company that runs… well, the whole show, won a Sports Industry Award for their social media coverage of the event in April, the participation of EISM students was noted by all as a contributing factor to the win.

Thanks to Promosevens Sport for giving my students a fabulous opportunity.

All EIS-M students who take part in extra-curricular journalism do so under the condition of public appearance. All images of students are posted with this understanding.
